Nice shiny new forums with a hint of madness.
Code of Conduct
Automaton Games aims to create thought provoking, dynamic and, most of all, fun experiences across all of our online platforms. We encourage players to enjoy unique challenges, fierce competitions, and celebrate their successes. Friendly rivalry is always encouraged in the games we create; however, this does not mean doing so at the expense of others’ enjoyment. If you feel that a player is violating the code of conduct outlined below, please let us know.
Communication and interactions
“A person’s character may be learned from the adjectives which they habitually use in conversation.” - Mark Twain
Whether working together as a team or trying to mislead your opponent, interacting with other players is key to attaining success in the games we create. There are many ways to interact — through text and voice chat in game, via external programs and on the forums to name a few. We encourage players to get involved, discuss the things they enjoy and to give feedback on the things they don’t. Players should always be mindful of the language and methods of communication they choose to use. You are solely responsible for the way you express yourself.
Discriminatory, disruptive, obscene, racist or threatening language are all inappropriate and will not be tolerated. Use of in game abilities to the detriment of teammates, throwing games, griefing or trolling are also against our rules. The provided lists are not exhaustive, common sense sets the standard for how to behave. Violation of any of these rules is a reportable offence and can result in restrictions on your ability to communicate in our games. If the offense is repeated, or deemed to be too extreme, it will result in a restriction on your ability to play our games.
Naming and aliases
“The name of a man is a numbing blow from which he never recovers.” - Marshall McLuhan
Similarly to the words a player uses to express themselves, their name is an important component in how they interact with other users. An element of trust is placed in users when they are given the ability to customise their names, if a player chooses to abuse this privilege to represent themselves inappropriately, such as through offensive language as outlined above, they will be forced to change their name. If a player continues to betray this trust it will inevitably result in a restriction on their ability to play our games.
Cheating and exploits
“I would prefer even to fail with honour than win by cheating.” – Sophocles
As previously stated, our staff actively encourage competitive spirit in our games. However, there is a distinct difference between pushing your own performance and utilising tools or exploits to augment them. Gaining an unfair advantage due to methods including, but not limited to, an exploit, third party program or external tool is considered against the rules and is a strongly punishable offence. If a user is found to be doing so it will result in a restriction of their ability to play our games, potentially including future titles. Remember, you are solely responsible for all actions performed on your account.

Oh. 'Tis a bit confusing.
Vest stuck in a rock
I was in the 3rd zone of the Forest trying to grab this vest, but I was unable to. Also I had everything in the “Video” set to “Low”.
It’s in the latest version v2.14.0
Nothing crazy happened before seeing this vest stuck in the rock.
I was hoping to use the vest to protect myself and keep me from being downed.
I have a Windows 10 Home computer and a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor and the Processor is Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz, 2.33 GHz.
Hope this helps out.
Terrors "vacuum" grabbing
I’m not sure if this is the best place for this, it seems more like a problem with lag compensation rather than an actual bug. I’m not sure how much work you’ve put into this or what you plan to do, but this happens often and is definitely a problem. As an Innocent running from the terror, they will sometimes grab you from twice - four times the distance they should be able to, and the result on your screen is it looking like you got sucked back into their arms at their location. The example I’m going to show is one of the worst cases I’ve experienced; on the second level of the Barracks map I jumped down from the second level running away only to get sucked back up into his hungry grasps:
Let me know if you need more examples, I can definitely dig through my streams to grab some.
How to play Deceit ~ a beginner's detailed guide
Welcome to my beginner’s guide to Deceit.
First off, I will say watch this video from the Deceit developers themselves, it gives a lot of good information if you’re just starting off: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nc50F-W6to
Now, 1 in 3 people are infected in every match. If all 6 players load into the game, 2 of them will be infected. You spawn in the first level of a map with objectives to obtain as either Infected or Innocent, while at the same time needing to deduce which 2 players are trying to kill you as Innocent, or trying to get enough blood to kill the Innocent at night as Infected, I’ll go into differences between each later.
- Objectives are either activated by an Activation Lever (having a white silhouette once within a certain range) or having a teammate step on a small trigger pad so that another player can grab what is in the box (Team Objective). On the FIRST level, the Team Objective is the Inspection Kit. On the SECOND level, the Team Objective is the Shotgun. On the THIRD level, the Team Objective is the Lethal Injection. (Note: the shotgun and Inspection Kit can also be obtained by Capture Objectives activated by pulling an Activation Lever). If a Capture Objective has already been obtained, the default neutral Active ring around it (white) will turn green and the item inside the mesh will disappear. If a Capture Objective has been disabled before the item is obtained, the ring will turn red.
** Around the map on each level, there will be Activation Levers that you can pull which will tell you how to capture the item you just activated (and it will display where it is on the map if you activated the lever). If there’s a picture of a target, that means you will have to shoot the 3 rotating targets from bottom to top to obtain the item pictured (whoever hits the 3rd target on top will get the item) on the Activation Lever (Antidote, Camera, Inspection Kit, Shotgun, Tracker, Trap). If there’s a picture of a ring with a crown above the middle, you will have to stand inside the area around the objective in the box (the item will be displayed inside the box until it is captured).
** You can view the current objectives of the level you’re on by pressing the scoreboard key (Default binding: Q), the scoreboard will show players’ names, give you the option to mute each player, display their current rank, display which objectives are on the current level and whether they’ve been taken or Deactivated. Objectives can be Deactivated by damaging their corresponding Activation Lever 3 times (ex: 2 knife thrusts plus 1 pistol shot or 3 pistol shots). Infected get experience for doing this, and with a certain Trait can also get half a slice of Blood each time they do. If an objective is Deactivated before being captured, it will no longer be obtainable (there is also a trait to stop this from being possible called Stubborn).
** The Antidote can be used once an Innocent player is either eaten by a Terror or has had the Lethal Injection used on them. Once an Innocent is downed by either of those methods, whoever has the Antidote will see a small circular objective appear with a distance and timer counting down from 20, if the person with the Antidote gets to the player before the 20 seconds are up and uses the Antidote on them, they will be revived with everything they had. The Antidote is always on the FIRST level, nearly always *
(I’ve seen no antidote on 2nd level, it might have been glitched though) on the SECOND level, and sometimes appears on the THIRD level.
** The Camera can be used during the night time to do damage to a Terror and stun them for a few seconds (as well as Pistols and Traps). Getting one camera objective will provide 6% charge (6 flashes) to be used (they are usually extremely effective against the Terrors but seem to be not as powerful in the game atm). Cameras can also be used to vote out someone who is down during the day. The camera will do damage to the Infected based on how close you are, and your line of sight on the Terror. The more direct the camera flash is, the less it will take to stun them. The Camera is always on the FIRST level, usually appears on the SECOND level, and sometimes appears on the THIRD level
- Inspection Kit
** The Inspection Kit can be used by switching to it, walking up to another player and clicking on them, after the scan is complete, it will display a symbol (WHITE SKULL will mean INNOCENT, RED BIOHAZARD will mean INFECTED) and show in the scanning player’s chat (bottom left corner of screen) who scanned who and what the result was. There will always be at least 1 Inspection Kit on the FIRST level of each map, and there is a chance for having it on the SECOND and THIRD levels as well.
- Lethal Injection
** The Lethal Injection is the only exclusively Team Objective in the game that can be used to instantly Incapacitate another player. It ONLY appears on the THIRD level. If both Infected survive until the THIRD level, they can easily take out one Innocent player during the day with this, it can also be used effectively as an Innocent if you know who the Infected is, BE CAREFUL NOT to Inject your teammates, as the only way they can be picked up is with the Antidote (if they are not voted out by one other vote during the day).
** The Shotgun can first be found on the SECOND level by having a teammate stand on the pad to raise the box. It appears as an alternate weapon to your default Pistol and is double barreled (has 2 shots before needing to reload) and comes with 8 total shots. It does amazing damage at close range and is great for going into the THIRD level. The Shotgun never appears on the FIRST level, always appears on the SECOND level, and sometimes appears on the THIRD level.
** The Tracker is one of the most underrated items in the game just because other items have such great uses. Using a tracker on someone will place an audio and visual beacon on that player for a set time which allows you to see where they are for the duration. Trackers appear on EVERY level ALWAYS even when you don’t want them. Sometimes you’ll have 3 Trackers on one level.
** The Trap is an item that can be placed on the ground nearly anywhere on the map. During the the Blackout cycle, if a Terror walks close enough to the Trap it will detonate, blinding and stunning the Infected player for a few seconds. It’s great to put on choke points that have multiple routes for you to escape once they are blinded. The Trap always appears on the FIRST level, usually appears on the SECOND level, and sometimes appears on the THIRD level.
** Every player starts out with a Pistol and 6 bullets in the magazine. You can find ammo throughout the map to build up your stock. you can have 9 bullets in a clip, so make sure you’re reloaded.
** Every player starts out with a Knife as their secondary weapon, switching to it will allow you to do 50 melee damage to another player. The knife takes getting used to but can be very helpful when you’re out of ammo or agile enough to get close to someone.
** Every player starts out the game with 100 Health, which can be lowered throughout the game. Picking up a Health Pack will bring you back to 100. There’s not a lot of these around, but they are on every level, so try to take note of where you see them.
** Armor Packs allow you to give yourself and extra 100 health shield of damage absorption. There are a few Armor Packs on every level, try to keep your armor up because it doesn’t regenerate (Health can with a certain Trait).
** An Infected player can drink Blood Bags to fill up their Blood Bar so that they can turn into a Terror during a Blackout cycle. During the day, 1 Blood Bag will provide 1 Slice (out of 3) of the Blood Bar and during the night, they will provide 1 half Slice. So although being more beneficial to the Infected to drink during the day, it is easier to get away with it during the night (as well as Deactivating Levers).
**The Exit Gates on Level ONE and TWO display where you need to go to get to the next Level of the Map. After the Blackout cycle, lights will come back on and you see a few waypoints displayed on your HUD which show you where to go. You have a limited time to get to the next Level, if you do not by the time your Oxygen Level is depleted, you will die. There are multiple Exit Gates.
** The Fuse Box is displayed on your HUD during the Blackout cycle once you pick up a Fuse. You need to have 3 fuses in to end the Blackout on the FIRST level and 2 fuses in to end it on the SECOND level.
** Fuses are found around each level after Blackout. Grab fuses by Interacting with them (Default Key: E) and then place them in the Fuse Box as Innocent to complete objectives. If you are infected, it is your choice whether you want to prolong the Blackout or not (by not putting fuses in).
** The Escape Hatch is the only way for the Innocent to win the game. On the THIRD and final level, once the Blackout occurs, one Fuse needs to be put into the Fuse Box to reveal the Escape Hatch to all Innocent players (Note: THE INFECTED CAN NOT SEE THE ESCAPE HATCH UNTIL IT IS OPENED). After revealed, an Innocent player can Interact with it to start opening it, once the process has started, all remaining Infected will be able to see where the Escape Hatch is and be able to stay in Terror form and feast infinitely (Note: ONLY THE INNOCENT CAN OPEN THE ESCAPE HATCH). If you survive until the Escape Hatch opens, jump into the light and you will win the game.
Characters and Gameplay
** As an Innocent player, your goal is to survive all three rounds with your Innocent teammates, open the Escape Hatch, and leave safely with them. You have many tools to do this, and using those tools along with good communication can win you the game with a bit of luck as well. Any player can be damaged to 0 Health to be Incapacitated, which means they will have 10 seconds until they Respawn, losing all Items they had, and any Blood if they were Infected (if Incapacitated in the gas/cold a player will stand up where they were downed without losing oxygen/body temp or items/blood until they’re back up). While a player is Incapacitated during the day, they can be voted out of the game by other players. On the FIRST level you need 4 votes to vote someone out of the game, on the SECOND level you need 3 votes to vote someone out of the game, and on the THIRD level you need 2 votes to vote someone out of the game. Be very sure before you vote, having more teammates is always a good thing, voting them out is never a good thing (as Innocent AND Infected).
** As an Infected player your goal is to Kill every Innocent player. Of course you have the obvious Deception tools available by communicating with everyone, but your best available tool for winning the game is your teammate. There are 2 different ways to communicate with ONLY your teammate. If you press the chat key (Default key: Y) and then press the TAB key, your chat will turn red, indicating you are typing to your Infected Teammate. There is also a Terror Voice Chat key (Default key: V) that you can use for vocal communication. Don’t forget to also communicate with everybody, it’ll look a bit suspicious if you’re too quiet. As Infected, you need 3 Slices of Blood to fill up your Blood Bar and be able to turn into your Terror form during the Blackout. You can get blood by drinking blood bags found throughout the map, but be careful not to get caught and downed because you will lose everything you’ve gained. Once you are full blood, during the Blackout you can press Transform (Default key: T) to turn into your Terror form, allowing you to execute one Innocent player if you get close enough and attack them. You can also scratch people after executing someone for a short time before your Blood Bar empties, turning you back into your human form. While in Terror form, there are tunnels located throughout the Map allowing you to travel from one end of the map quickly to another end, staying out of sight. Denying and controlling certain items is very helpful in your quest for Innocent extermination as well, try to remember who can pick up who or who gave who what. Knowledge of the game will always help you convince people, use whatever you know to help you.
The Blackout occurs once during each level and the full duration lasts 90 seconds. On the FIRST level the blackout can be ended by putting 3 fuses in the Fuse Box and will show 3 exits leading to the next level. The blackout on the SECOND level can be ended by putting 2 Fuses in the Fuse Box and will show 2 exits leading to the next level. If the countdown timer for the Blackout on the THIRD level ends, the remaining Innocent players will Lose, and the remaining Infected players will Win. Putting 1 fuse in the Fuse Box on the THIRD level will reveal the Escape Hatch and allow the Innocent the possibility to win the game.
** When a player has no armor and loses 100 health, they are incapacitated. They go down on the ground and cannot move or do anything, while a player is incapacitated during the day, other players can vote on them. On the FIRST level it requires 4 votes to remove a player from the game. On the SECOND level it requires 3 votes, and on the THIRD level it requires 2 votes. To vote on a player who is Incapacitated, you must use a damage dealing source; you can use your pistol to shoot once to vote, knife them, shoot them with a shotgun, or flash them with a camera (you can vote with a camera from a decent distance and do not need direct line of sight). Be very sure with your votes, if you accidentally vote an innocent teammate, the infected would be very smart to jump on an opportunity to remove 1 innocent from the game. On the contrary, do your best to never vote a teammate out, you are playing together and are rewarded much more for winning together, work together!
I will insert some pictures for the tutorial later, and am willing to accept any feedback/questions. If there’s anything you think I should add let me know. Thanks for reading, hope it helps

How to play Deceit ~ a beginner's detailed guide
Seems great from what I’ve read so far, shared it on Twitter and Facebook.
